i (heart) hippies and fudge brownies

Well, my Valentine's Day weekend was pretty great. It involved a lot of eating pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream, not to mention long stints of movie-watching in a cozy house off the beaten path. And of course, snowshoeing. (To burn off the calories in the whipped cream, my dear!) Then, just to put the cherry on the sundae, so to speak, I even took in a rom-com at the cinema! For those of you who live in cities, and have movie theatres close at hand, I'll remind you that for me to go to the cinema means an hour drive to the nearest city, and then an hour back, so my friend's and my dedication to the cause is considerable.

(What cause? Oh, right... that of us going to the "big city" for a few hours to eat chocolate and partake in society's stereotypes of romance and relationships.)

I hope your weekend was fabulous, as well. The way I see it is, even if one is single, there's something awesome about celebrating love, hearts, and the colors red and pink. I quite enjoy it.

These photos are from last September. The one above is a fudge brownie, sitting on top of its own recipe. And this one below? Well, who doesn't get a kick out seventies' era hippie stereotypes?

Yep, just another day on the farm, me and my man. Ha!

Coming up: The Silver Dart Centennial Celebration is kicking into high gear here in Baddeck. I'll be volunteering for it over the weekend, and then hopefully I'll be in the crowd on Monday, down by the ice, watching the reenactment of the first powered flight in the British empire. And yes, I'll have pictures for you!
